dreamervictoria: 5 - 95 A Disappointment

Your face should not be ugly
And your hands should not be shaking
The filth in which you find yourself
Is only your own making

Your country gave you everything
You really should be grateful
And spend more time on thinking
What you're bringing to the table

Your squalor is offensive
Your poverty repugnant
Next time, work much harder
And display better judgement

dreamervictoria: 5 - 91 A Savage Inequality

This office is filled
wall to wall
with parents

Close to closing time
The ladies flood out in a mad rush
swimming through guilt
"Need to dash, I don't want mine
to be the lonely child
Who was forgotten at daycare"

Once a week or so,
Andy the black minnow
exits with the school of women

but he's the only one

I don't understand
why they don't already know the answer
when they ask me,
"Why don't you want kids?"

dreamervictoria: 5 - 90 Vintage Chic

Pretty girls on pretty bikes
Cruise the promenade
They look a pretty picture
But as transport, it is flawed

Those pretty, sweeping curves
That candy coloured look paint
Disguise a steel frame
Of shackles and restraint

Mountain bike is lighter
But she says, "No, no, no!
I'm faster when I look cute,
Ugliness is slow."

These skinny, pretty ladies
Find themselves betrayed
When they can't propel this beast
With their skinny, pretty legs

Pretty girls on pretty bikes
Don't get very far
Frequently, they just give up
And end up in a car

dreamervictoria: 5 - 89 Uncommon People

He sat down and complained
That the train operator
Was nice to him
"It's only because I'm wearing a tradie shirt."
Like the rest of the time he's being excluded
from some secret club

"Oh, so you're discovering what it's like to be common?"
"I'm common!"
"Oh? 'Yes, my name is Randolph Walter Scuffbuffer the III
My ancestors owned half this country
I've never done a day of blue collar work in my life
I make six figures
And most of that is disposable income.'"
They laugh.

I think he thought
Knowing the words to 'Common People'
And disdaining the 1%
Made him common

The truth is
No one sitting here
is common
or will ever really know
what that's like

Not even me.

dreamervictoria: 5 - 88 Words from a Dead Man

He said, "Don't."
Told me not to
Fill these pages with my emptiness
Because I am hollow inside
That if I have to dig
it should stay buried.
I think so.
